F1 Travel Guide 2026: Plan the Rest of the Season
2026 Formula 1 season · Multiple destinations
Formula 1 is unusually well suited to a group trip: the race gives everyone a fixed reason to travel, but the destination determines whether the weekend becomes a quick sports trip, a nightlife weekend, or a full vacation. The remaining 2026 calendar covers all three.
As of August 31, the official Formula 1 calendar has 11 race weekends left, beginning at Monza on September 4 and ending in Abu Dhabi on December 6. It also contains one major late-season change: Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia is scheduled to host the Bahrain Grand Prix on October 2–4, between Baku and Singapore.

Which race is best for your group?
Best first F1 trip: Austin. Circuit of the Americas is a purpose-built venue, Austin is an easy city for a long weekend, and the food and live-music scene gives non-die-hard fans plenty to do.
Best nightlife trip: Madrid or Las Vegas. Madrid is the new venue of 2026 and keeps the trip rooted in a real European city. Las Vegas is the most concentrated race-and-party combination on the calendar.
Best street-race experience: Singapore or Baku. Both put the circuit into the city itself. Singapore is the polished night-race spectacle; Baku pairs enormous straight-line speed with the medieval old city and Caspian waterfront.
Best trip to extend into a vacation: Monza, Sepang, Qatar or Abu Dhabi. Use Milan as a gateway to northern Italy, Kuala Lumpur as part of a Malaysia itinerary, Doha as a Gulf stopover, or Abu Dhabi as the start of a UAE winter escape.
Best season-finale trip: Abu Dhabi. If your group wants the championship-ending atmosphere, Yas Marina is the natural choice.
The F1 group-trip booking order
Race weekends punish last-minute coordination. Use this order:
- Agree on a target race and backup race. If ticket inventory or airfare jumps, the group can pivot without restarting the discussion.
- Set the maximum all-in budget. Include race tickets, flights, lodging, local transport, food, nightlife, and one buffer line.
- Buy race tickets from official or authorized channels. Keep ticket type and entry rules in the shared itinerary.
- Lock lodging immediately afterward. For street races, neighborhood matters as much as hotel quality. For circuit races, transport matters more than straight-line distance.
- Coordinate flights by arrival window, not identical flight. Let travelers optimize from their home airports, then choose a common hotel check-in target.
- Pre-plan race-day transport. This is the piece most likely to break a group itinerary.
- Reserve one or two anchor meals or activities. Do not over-schedule a race weekend; sessions move, crowds slow everything down, and people need recovery time.
