Qatar Grand Prix 2026 Travel Guide: Doha & Lusail

Qatar Grand Prix · Doha / Lusail, Qatar

The Qatar Grand Prix is the middle event in Formula 1's 2026 season-ending run through Las Vegas, Lusail, and Abu Dhabi. The race weekend runs November 27–29 at Lusail International Circuit, just north of Doha.

Late November is also a practical time for a Gulf trip: the weather is more comfortable than summer, Doha is built around modern hotels and international air connections, and a group can combine the race with an Abu Dhabi or Dubai extension.

Quick trip facts

Where to stay

West Bay

A strong all-round base with major hotels, restaurants, and a modern skyline. It works well for groups that want predictable service and easy car access.

Msheireb / Souq Waqif area

Better for atmosphere and walking access to older central Doha, restaurants, and the souq. This creates a more distinctive trip than staying only in a business district.

The Pearl / Lusail

Closer to the northern side of the city and the circuit. Useful for premium groups that prioritize restaurants, waterfront living, and a shorter race-day route.

Getting to Lusail

Lusail International Circuit is outside central Doha. Metro and event-specific transport may be available, while taxis and private vehicles are also common. The exact spectator plan can vary, so use the current race organizer's instructions for park-and-ride, metro connections, taxis, and entry gates.

If your group is staying centrally, test the circuit route on Friday rather than discovering it on race day.

A four-night Qatar F1 itinerary

Thursday: Arrive, sunset walk around the Corniche or Souq Waqif, and an early dinner.

Friday: Practice at Lusail, then return to Doha for dinner.

Saturday: Qualifying. Keep daytime sightseeing light so the group is comfortable with the evening schedule.

Sunday: Race day. Leave with buffer and plan a late dinner only if everyone still has energy after the circuit exit.

Monday: Museum, desert excursion, beach/resort time, or continue to the UAE for the Abu Dhabi finale.

Cultural planning for a group

Qatar is a different nightlife environment from Austin, Madrid, or Las Vegas. Check current local laws and venue policies for alcohol, dress, public behavior, medication, and other travel considerations before arriving. A little preparation prevents someone in the group from importing assumptions from another destination.

Pair Qatar with Abu Dhabi

With Abu Dhabi following one week later, Qatar is an obvious candidate for a two-race Gulf trip. Rather than fly home and back, spend the days between races in Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or a resort destination and turn the championship run-in into a longer vacation.
